 In many cultures around the world and through history, the Sun was a symbol of life, vitality, well-being, and health, and leadership. In the development of astrology in the 20th century, astrologers conceived of the Sun as a symbol for the purpose or construct of personality or ego. The way I conceive of the Sun in the context of natal astrology, is that it encapsulates or contains the idea that the cause or spark of our existence, drives our living time to fruition and fulfillment of the intent that set it in motion, so that the Sun becomes both the cause and the effect of the public personality, of the person in the world. In this article, I would like to explore this in a very simple way: by looking at the Sun in a chart and its associations.  This is not going to be one of those articles that regurgitate mythology. Authors like Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas have done fantastic work in bringing mythology alive in a modern context. Rather, this article is going to present a hypothesis about how Saturn actually assists us owning our Sun. There is in fact a lot of similarity between the two, but in this article I am just going to share with you one aspect in which these two archetypes work.
